One day while cruising eBay for speakers and stuff, I ran across these JBL LE8T fullrange drivers with alnico magnets for auction with a $225 buy-it-now price. It seemed like a good deal, despite them obviously being not in the best shape, and with non-original surrounds, but I snapped them up. I really like Matt Wiebe's Fostex FX200 open baffles, and thought these would be similar. I had even hoped that the alnico magnets would be really something special.

As is often the case, reality did not quite live up to expectations, and the JBLs are not that great. They have much less high frequency extension that either the FX200 or the ff225k. This I could live with, but what really sucks is the congested midrange. I think there must be something wrong with these speakers because they are supposed to sound quite good, and these kinda fall on thier face. Oh well. Anybody want to buy a pair of really fantastic amazing unbelieveable JBL LE8T alnico drivers? :)
